\quantum Entanglement" Does Not Happen!

As from about 1970, certain experiments have been interpreted by orthodox quantum theorists as showing that the predicted \non-local action" really does happen. I have studied the evidence and found that this interpretation is the result of ignoring some of the facts and of assuming quantum theory to be true in the rst place. If you take account of the real experimental conditions, referring to source documents and not the versions put out by journalists or theoreticians, you nd that all so-called demonstrations of quantum entan-glement can be explained entirely by local actions. The explanations involve new ideas on the physics of light that deserve further investigation. 1. Background \Quantum entanglement" is currently accepted by some as a fact of life, and those who are convinced of it hold the eld so far as both serious science journals and the presentation of science through the media are concerned. You will be told that, strange though it seems, two quantum particles that have once interacted can, after separation to any distance whatsoever, innuence each other instantaneously! Those who believe that this really happens { that this weird corner of quantum theory has now been shown experimentally to be correct { go on to deduce that forces that act instantaneously over indeenite distances must exist. But this is impossible! In the current intellectual climate, the word \impossible" has lost its meaning, so let me explain.
